With all of the expensive cosmetic procedures and anti aging skin products that are available on the market, a lot of people don’t realize that there are also simple ways to help keep your skin looking as youthful as possible. Olive oil for wrinkles is something that many people don’t even realize is a possibility, and if you’re on a budget, it can be a great alternative to the more expensive products.
Clearly the great thing about the olive oil wrinkle treatment is that it’s extremely cheap, but it’s also good for your skin. This natural oil is absorbed easily and deeply into the skin; it helps to soften skin by thoroughly locking in any natural moisture.
Many commercially available anti aging beauty products are filled with antioxidants, which can help combat the aging effect in. Olive oil is rich in vitamins A and E, which are also potent antioxidants. This means that, as well as the olive oil helping to lock in moisture and repair damage caused by dry skin, the antioxidants also help to prevent new wrinkles appearing.
To use olive oil for wrinkles, go for the extra virgin variety and apply it, without diluting, under your eyes and on your face; it can be used during the day or night. You can also mix with lemon juice (just a few drops at once) to create your own homemade moisturizing astringent.
An important point to note, however, is that it is comedogenic, which means that if you have problem or oily skin, you shouldn’t use it or you’ll be at risk of breaking out with acne.
As mentioned, a lot of people don’t realize that olive oil has these properties and for people who are on a budget it can be a real lifesaver. However, in honesty, the companies who make the best anti aging products have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars investing in research; if you can afford it, the more high-end commercially available products will certainly be more effective.
